Meet The Storyteller
Welcome
Hello, I'm Lucy, and I'm so glad you've found your way here. Life has a way of changing the rules just when we think we've finally figured them out. Bodies become less cooperative, relationships shift, and the life we imagined doesn't always resemble the one we're living. I've learned that even when life changes, we don't have to lose our curiosity, humor, or sense of who we are. There's still plenty of living to be done, even if we have to approach it a little differently.
Why From The Fables Exists
Living with a difficult body can be lonely. When symptoms are invisible, it's easy to question yourself or feel as though everyone else received an instruction manual for life while yours was lost in the post. I created From The Fables because I wanted a different kind of conversation—one that respects science, acknowledges life's difficulties, and still makes room for wisdom, laughter, and hope. Aesop's ancient fables have been helping people understand human nature for centuries. Here, those timeless stories meet modern challenges, supported by research, real-life experience, and practical ideas we can actually use.
My Story
I've lived with fibromyalgia since 1987, and I've learned more than I ever intended about adapting to circumstances I didn't choose. I'm also a highly sensitive person, which means I notice things deeply, think about them rather thoroughly, and occasionally wish my brain came with an off switch. Illness, grief, aging, and life's unexpected turns have taught me that accepting limitations isn't the same as surrendering who we are. Sometimes resilience means finding another way, changing our expectations, or simply allowing ourselves a little grace. I don't have all the answers. I'm still learning, and I suspect I always will be.
Come Explore
From The Fables is a welcoming place for women navigating the changing landscape of later life—our bodies, relationships, independence, finances, and the everyday challenges that don't always come with easy answers. Together, we'll explore what science can teach us, what ancient stories still understand, and how practical changes can make life more manageable without losing its pleasures. There will be honest conversations, useful ideas, and a little wry humor along the way. Because life is complicated enough without being solemn about every minute of it. I'm glad you're here.
